About Us

Hello Members of NHASC,
For the 2009-2010 NHASC year, I would like to give you the opportunity to involve your school and community in the Help Hungry Kids Service Project. The Help Hungry Kids Service project is a competition that allows your Student Council to develop a creative way to collect as many cans as possible for your local soup kitchen. You are given the opportunity to test your team unity and compete against other schools as well as help local children in need of food in your community.
In the United States 1 in 6 kids are at risk of hunger. Next time you are in your classroom look around as these statistics mean about 5 kids in every class are at risk of going hungry this year. Ask yourself, who could you be helping this year? 18,000 children in NH alone are in need of proper nutrition. In order to stop this drastic problem that is spreading, schools participate in this project every year and collect massive amounts of canned goods. The more your school collects, the more hungry children we can help. Don't let anyone you know be part of the statistic this school year. Every school, big or small, will make a large difference in your community.
The canned food and money collection drive can take place anytime between September 1, 2009 and April 1, 2010. Along with this letter is the Help Hungry Kids Rules Sheet, which explains in full detail the Help Hungry Kids Service Project. Also included is the Help Hungry Kids Tabulation sheet which must be completed and received by April 7th 2010.
I hope to see all NHASC member schools participate in the Help Hungry Kids Service Project this year so that we can help as many children as possible and raise awareness in your community. If you have any questions about the Help Hungry Kids Service Project, I am open to any questions. Good luck to your school and have fun raising awareness! I look forward to seeing which school will win this year!
Thank you,
